• A Message in the Clouds

Hello everyone! It’s Mattie. Today I wanted to share with you something that Amelia has taught me to appreciate. That thing is clouds. It sounds weird, but it’s true. A small lesson in clouds has taught me a lot. Amelia has always loved the sky, and she would point it out every time she thought it was beautiful. This used to annoy me because she would gasp in excitement, and I would run over thinking something amazing had happened. It was usually just the sky she was excited about. I always thought it was beautiful, but I never really cared like she did. But somehow, over time, I came to…

  • Shadows of Beauty

Hello everyone! It’s Amelia writing today. School started up for me about a month ago, and, before my English class began, we were instructed to read an essay called The Weight of Glory by C. S. Lewis. This essay was extremely influential to me and, on my second read-through, it seemed like I underlined every page. If you haven’t read it yet, I would highly recommend, but in today’s post I wanted to talk about one topic discussed in the essay that struck me the most. The essay is primarily about “the weight of glory”, but it also touches on how we think that desires are bad, when, in reality,…

  • Book Review: The Light in Hidden Places

Hi everyone! It’s Amelia writing today to share a book review. I haven’t found much time to read this month, but I wanted to talk about one of the books I read that I really enjoyed. It’s called The Light in Hidden Places by Shannon Cameron. It is set in 1943 and follows the true story of Stefania Podgorska, a 17-year-old girl who hid 13 Jews in her home. My friend recommended this book to me (Thanks, Lillian!) and I really enjoyed it for the way it made me think and the feeling that spoke through the story. I’ll leave you to read the more detailed blurb for yourself if…

  • Why L. M. Montgomery Is My Favorite Author

Hello everyone! It’s Amelia, and today I wanted to talk a little bit about my favorite author, L. M. Montgomery, and why I enjoy her books so much. I started reading them when I was around eleven or twelve years old and I’ve read ten of her stories so far. Her books have always renewed a love of beautiful and lovely things in me, and that is something that has made me treasure them so much over the years.  L. M. Montgomery’s books are classic and timeless, and many people have been just as enchanted as I have by her stories. They have such quality characters and a beautiful writing…

  • Morning Thoughts

Hello everyone! It’s Mattie. Amelia and I talk a lot about seeing the beauty in our everyday lives on this blog. We don’t really talk about the darkness that makes looking for the light so important. I wrote a little “poem”, if you will, and I wanted to share it with you. These words aren’t answers, or comfort, or encouragement. These words are merely a baring of my heart, the echoes of feelings I’ve had for a while. I don’t know if they make a whole lot of sense, I’m not a poet, and they don’t really go together, but here they are. When darkness falls and silence reigns, I’m…
