A Few Things We Enjoyed This Summer
Hello, everyone!
We wanted to share a few things we’ve been enjoying in the last few months. We hope you enjoy!

The Sword in the Stone by T. H. White
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I read The Sword in the Stone back in July, and mentioned it in our July TBR video. As I said in that video, this was my first dive into the world of King Arthur, and I’m so glad I started with this book! Throughout the book, we follow the Wart’s adventures and lessons as he grows up under the tutelage of Merlyn.
This book is definitely not your typical medieval Arthurian legend. It isn’t stiff, stern, or hard to read (though it is a little lengthy). It is hilarious, witty, charming, and so much fun to read! The Sword in the Stone was written in 1938, and, though the storyline may be more geared toward younger readers, the language, writing, and themes make it a wonderful book for all ages. I barely touched on what this book is about, but if you love whimsical classics, this is the book for you!

Ignite by Jenna Terese
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ignite is set in a time and place where superhumans are illegal. The story follows Scarlett Marley, a girl who develops fire powers after being involved in a super-human attack, and how this changes her life forever. After Scarlett turns herself into the Superhuman Containment Facility, we continue to read about how her life has changed, and what Scarlett is willing to do to get it back to normal.
I really enjoyed this book! I’m not sure if I have ever read a “superhero” book before, but this one was definitely interesting and kept my attention. Though I had a few issues with the plot and how a few things just felt “off” with the way it developed, I still found the process of reading this book to be enjoyable. I really enjoyed the characters in this story and how their personalities were written as the story unfolded. The themes in this book, though a little cliche, were well written and thought-provoking. I would recommend this book to YA readers who enjoy Sci-fi/dystopian books and want a fast and exciting read.
🎶 Music 🎶
Here are just a few of the songs that we’ve enjoyed listening to lately! Mattie doesn’t listen to much music, so these are just a couple of the songs that I have in my playlists. I showed them to Mattie, and we have both liked listening to them over the last few months. If you like more folky, acoustic-sounding songs, then these might be ones you enjoy!
Carry Me (feat. Jon Foreman) – NEEDTOBREATHE
March: Hills to Climb – Tim Myers
Ghost of a King – The Gray Havens

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies – Pretty. Simple. Sweet.
These cookies are amazing! We’ve made them several times over the last few months, and they’ve become one of our new favorite cookie recipes! The recipe says to chill the dough, but we never have and they’ve turned out perfect every time.
We hope you enjoyed seeing a few things we’ve been liking recently! If there’s anything you’ve been liking, we’d love to hear about it!
Thanks for reading!
